NOUN: to imagine potential futures and forecast one’s own destiny

Dreams are cool. I don’t mean that sarcastically. Dreams are one of the coolest and most intrinsically human experiences. Dreams often feel more powerful real than facts, and they are certainly more motivating than cold hard facts. The truth is what is, the future has no truth or facts, it’s yet to be.

Your biography is a curated list of what has happened in the past. Your destiny is a future that extends from that past. It doesn’t necessarily have to make sense… there are surprises in life. Very often our life doesn’t follow logically. The saying “you can be anything you want to be” means that the world is full of surprises. You can’t be everything you want to be. While all future are possible, you will have to choose one future that is the most motivating. Again this isn’t about choosing the easy path, it’s choosing that path that you wish to wake up to each morning. Setting aside what future seems most possible, what future seems most motivating?

VALUE: ˈvalyo͞o

NOUN: Something you always strive for, or always avoid.

We care about things. We also sort of care about what other people care about. But so many creators are unnecessarily burdened with other people’s values that they cannot take full care of their own. When we talk about values, we’re talking about your values. Your values are not selfish. They are simply yours, and so you must uphold them first before you take care of anyone else’s.

All the effort in the world won’t matter if you’re not inspired.
— Chuck Palahniuk
A person who sees a problem is a human being; a person who finds a solution is visionary; and the person who goes out and does something about it is an entrepreneur.
— Naveen Jain
In my life, I have given a fuck about many people and many things. I have also not given a fuck about many people and many things. And those fucks I have not given have made all the difference.”
— Mark Manson
